I had a nice week at Leo Carrillo State Beach. It cleared up later in the day of my last post and while not exactly toasty for the rest of the week it was a nice comfortable mid to upper 60's during the day and no more rain. I did lots of walking on the beach exploring tide pools, sandy beaches and several lagoons. I got lots of bird, flower and wave shots (even some kite surfers in action). I did a killer hike that went from basically sea level to 1,725 ft. in about 2 miles of UP!. I was rewarded by a pretty amazing panorama of the entire Malibu coast and a little further on from the summit an interior valley with the beautiful Nicholas Flats Meadow.
I also stepped into the historical and cultural sides of the area with a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits and a visit to the Getty Museum.
I didn't do a lot of exploring in the area of the recent Springs Fire (a lot of it was still closed) but it did look pretty nasty the couple times I drove by the area (Leo Carrillo is about 3 or 4 miles south of where the fire was). Point Magu State Park was pretty much all burned up except for one small corner in the southeast part of the park.
I spent the next week in the San Diego area visiting family and did some more exploring but more driving and a lot less walking.
I will get around to posting more details on some of the hikes I took ASAP but I did come back with almost 900 photos so there is no shortage of stuff for me to do for the next few weeks.

PS: I do have to say that, as much as I love Southern Cal beaches, it was a relief to get back and see what is left of the spring green here in the Bay Area. It's really brown down there!
