If you read my last post on 2.5.14 you will understand the title of this post. You'll also notice that I was a bit optimistic about the timing of my return. Of course isn't that always the case with home DYI projects, they always take at least twice as long as you predict.Anyway I finished up last week and needed a few days off so I spent the remainder of the week watching some tennis from the Family Circle Cup in Charlston (Go Petko!).
With the start of a new week I took my first hike in in more months than I care to mention. Given the length of time I've been off I chose one of the easier hikes, and a conveniently close to my home one, the Almaden Lake/Los Alamitos trail hike.
Not much to say about the hike except it sure felt good to get out and walk. Also apparently while I was crawling around under the house and digging into walls Spring has apparently Sprung! Not a lot of wildflowers in the area of this hike yet, just some groundcover and Califonia Poppies. Not even a lot of grasses but enough for a fair amount of green mixed in with the brown.
Given the lack of rain my recommendation would be to get out and enjoy the color while it lasts, it may not be for long. I certainly plan to so watch this space for my usual semi-frequent but erratic updates!
See you on the trail,
Bc
The most disconcerting thing is the lack of water in the Los Alamitos Creek. There is water there but usually it is flowing at a moderate to full on pace, depending on how recently it has rained, but this year it was pretty still looking in most places.
