I just finished a great 8.5 mile loop through Rancho Canada de Oro and Calero County Park (photo), but that's not the subject I wanted to address. On returning home and settling in to do my computer stuff for the day(after taking a shower of course!) on checking my email I noticed I had received the new Newsletter from the Open Space Preserve organization. It occurred to me that many of you may not be familiar with this great organization and their great newsletter. Of particular interest in this edition was a listing of the next couple of months of docent lead hikes that they offer (for FREE!). This is a great opportunity for those less experienced to get their feet, I guess I should say dirty rather that wet. It's also a great way to learn a bit more about the flora, fauna and geology that you more experienced hikers see all the time. Anyway you can sign up for the emailed Newsletter at http://www.openspace.org/news/newsletter.asp or you can just view the current issue at http://www.openspace.org/activities/default.asp. Either way I guarantee you'll learn something and probably have some fun while doing it. Check it out.
